When you qualify as a Straumann Platinum Technician, you gain access to many services.
To join the scheme, you will need to attend a choice of day-long courses to learn about our implant systems. Within 4 months of the course you will need to complete a specially designed test piece to let you demonstrate your competence in restoring a Straumann dental implant. The test piece is assessed against pre-defined standards by technicians employed at Straumann.
Straumann Platinum Technicians have the opportunity to attend update meetings on technical, product and business issues throughout the year. You are required to attend at least one event per year to help develop your knowledge of the Straumann system and maintain your Platinum Technician Status.
In return, we offer a range of support tools to help market your skills and the services your laboratory offers.
Our laboratory and dental technician support has evolved into a complete package relevant to your needs:
As Straumann Platinum Technician status belongs to the technician, and not the laboratory, should the qualified technician leave, another member of staff will need to qualify as a Straumann Platinum Technician to maintain the support benefits.
Straumann Platinum Technician Status
The Straumann Platinum Technician scheme was launched in 2012. Technicians who had qualified as a “Platinum Approved Technician” under the previous “Platinum Approved/Approved” scheme were grandfathered into the current programme.
New Straumann Platinum Technicians must satisfactorily complete a test piece. Validation of a dental technician’s technical abilities is limited to the test piece(s) they submit. Straumann is not responsible for the quality of individual cases.
The “Straumann Platinum Technician” status is given to the technician, and not the laboratory in which they work, as the scheme is an assessment of an individual’s skills as demonstrated on the test piece they submit.
Straumann Platinum Technician status is not transferable.
To maintain Straumann Platinum Technician status, technicians working with UK-based clinicians must maintain their GDC registration. Straumann Platinum Technicians must also attend update meetings at least once per annum, and pass a test paper.
Straumann UK runs the Straumann Platinum Technician programme, and retains the right to change or alter the programme.
